The BCS70 Age 38 survey took place between October 2008 to May 2009.

8,874 cohort members took part in total.

A 25-minute telephone survey. The key purpose of the short telephone survey that year was to update the key events and circumstance changes which had happened to cohort members in the time that has elapsed since they were last interviewed.

Cohort members were questioned on the following areas:

  • Household details
  • Housing
  • Relationships
  • Children and wider family
  • Family Income and Wealth
  • Employment
  • Life-long learning
  • Health and health behaviour

More information about the coverage of each element of the survey and the downloadable questionnaires are provided here. A full description of the design of the Age 38 survey is provided here.
