BCS70 Age 34 survey (2004-05)


The BCS70 age 34 survey took place between February 2004 and June 2005.

Response:

9,665 cohort members took part in total.

Design:

A 50 minute interview comprising a CAPI (Computer-Assisted Personal Interview) and a CASI questionnaire (Computer-Assisted Self Interview).  In addition to the core interview the Age 34 interview also involved:

  • A 40 minute assessment of adult basic skills
  • An additional Parent and Child CAPI module for cohort members with natural or adopted children aged 16 or under in the household. 
  • A ‘Parent’ paper self-completion questionnaire which was completed for each eligible child
  • Child assessments
  • Child self-completion questionnaires
