Data Linkage

Birth Registration and Hospital Episode Data

The information on the cohort child's birth collected at the 9 month interview has been augmented by data collected routinely at the birth registration and at the hospital episode in which the child was born. The linkage involved collaboration with the vital registration agencies and health departments of all four UK countries, and academic teams based at the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit at Oxford University, and in the Department of Paediatric Epidemiology at the Institute of Child Health, University College London. The linkage obtained extra information from birth registration for 89% of the cohort and from hospital records for 75% of the cohort. The data has been deposited at the UK Data Service, SN5614.
