There are more than 40,000 variables available across the three birth cohort studies located at CLS. Searching for the variables that you are interested in can therefore be a daunting task. The data dictionary presented here is designed to help you find the information you need. It provides a frequency table for each variable as well as information about the variable name, variable label and value labels.
The data dictionary can be used in a number of ways. We recommend browsing within a study and sweep via the NCDS, BCS or MCS tabs above. This is the fastest way of retrieving information about variables as each sweep is broken down into sections by both questionnaire (or instrument) and by topic within that.
Alternatively you can search for variables across each of the three cohort studies using the search box above. With such a large number of variables some queries may take a while. Indicate the study that you are interested in, and then enter the word you want to search for in the search box above.
