BCS70 user guide: 2004 data on assessment of symptoms associated with dyslexia

BCS70 user guide: 2004 adult literacy and numeracy assessment data

This user guide accompanies data collected from literacy and numeracy assessments completed in the 2004 survey of the 1970 British Cohort Study. The literacy and numeracy assessments, which all BCS70 cohort members participating at age 34 completed, combined two methods of questioning: (1) open-response literacy and numeracy questions previously used to assess BCS70 cohort members’ functional literacy and numeracy skills at age 21, and (2) multiple-choice questions extracted from the 2002 Skills for Life Survey.

NCDS user guide: Warnock study of handicapped school leavers (1976)

This document provides a guide to the Warnock Study of Handicapped School Leavers and the data from the study that has been deposited by CLS. The Warnock Study was carried out in the summer and autumn of 1976, with selected members of the 1958 National Child Development Study when they were 18 years of age. Information was gathered for some 508 individuals, both ‘handicapped’ and ‘nonhandicapped’. The study was carried out for the Committee of Enquiry into the Education of Handicapped Children and Young People (the Warnock Committee) by a team based at the National Children’s Bureau.

BCS70 user guide: Activity Histories (1986-2008)

This document accompanies the deposit of the derived dataset of partnership histories from the 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008/9 surveys of the 1970 British Cohort Study (BCS70). Data on work and non-work activities lasting one month or more have been collected in all BCS70 sweeps from sweep5 (age 26) onwards. The purpose of the BCS70 activity histories dataset is to merge all data on work and non-work activities, in the successive sweeps, into one longitudinal dataset.
