6th November 2013
ESRC Festival of Social Science JPG

Please note registration is now closed.

This workshop will explore how to involve children and young people in research. It is targeted at researchers in the voluntary and public sectors who want to explore effective ways of including children and young people at different stages of the research process, from shaping research questions through to disseminating key messages.

 The programme will cover:

  • What children and young people think about  taking part in research and effective strategies for involving them
  • Ethical issues in involving children and young people in research, based on a review of the growing body of evidence on this topic
  • How you can effectively and meaningfully involve young people in shaping research questions, informing the methodology, and contributing to the analysis, interpretation and dissemination of the findings
  • How you can ensure that your research findings reach those who can make a difference to children and young people’s lives.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to discuss their research questions with young people and researchers with extensive experience of involving children and young people in quantitative and qualitative research.

This is an ESRC Festival of Social Science event and will be presented by CLS and the National Children’s Bureau (NCB), drawing on findings from a range of joint CLS-NCB research.
